After polling our staff to discover how they advise our clients, we complied a list of answers. These answers help to solve the challenges our customers face when either preparing to order their print or design or when starting to implement a marketing strategy. Q What is bleed and how to do I add it to artwork files?
Bleed is added to all printed artwork when the image goes to the very edge of the paper/card you are printing on. The image will in effect ‘bleed off the edge’ hence the name! All edges need a 3mm bleed and this is the area that will be guillotined/cut off, if no bleed is added the document size allows no tolerance for the cutting blade, so your document will be smaller than you want it to be and if there is text closer to the edge, this could mean that the text is cut into or lost altogether.

Q Do you print large plans?
Yes! We print all architecture plans and drawings in either colour or black and white. We can print from either a pdf file or from the hard copy. We can also enlarge, reduce and scan them. Plans are printed at A3,A2,A1 and A0 size.
Q What is the largest size that you print?
When we print large format posters, banners, outside signs or exhibition graphics, we can print to nearly any size you might need. Our large format printer takes rolls that are 1.3m wide so each printed panel would be 1.3m width by any length that you wanted and anything in between. Q Do you print small quantities?
Yes is the short answer – we can print 1 of most things it just might not be the most economical for you.
Q Can you do my design and artwork?
Yes again is the short answer!
We have two designers based in our centre who can work with you on any size of project. If you have an idea of what you want and how it is to be laid out but lack the technical know how to set it up correctly for print, we can help.
We can also create and prepare brand concept designs for logos and ensure cohesive branding throughout your company using our bespoke, formulated, brand guidelines. We have a Design Brief Questionnaire that once filled out, gives us your company’s unique direction, values and vision enabling us to produce logos that work to strengthen your business identity.

Q How do I send you my job?
Once your artwork is all prepared you can email us print ready pdf’s to print@stortfordprint.com. If you find it easier, you can also pop into our centre based at Unit C First Floor, Birchanger Industrial Estate, CM23 2TH and yes we have lots of parking! Or, if your files are too large to email you can send through www.wetransfer.com which is a free and easy to use cloud based file transfer system. We can talk you through the process if it is you first time using the system.
Q Do you deliver?
We can deliver to Bishops Stortford and the local area and use Fedex next day couriers to deliver around the country. We are also a FedEx international centre with ETA’s given depending on the country. Delivery is automatically added when ordering via our ecommerce website.
Q How and when do I pay?
If it is your first time using Prontaprint we ask for a 50% deposit before we start your print or design project. Payment is then taken on collection. We have the capacity to take payment over the telephone, in person with card, cheque or cash or we can send payment links for BACS payments. Invoices are emailed or hard copies given when you collect the goods.
We can also set up a 30 day credit account once you have completed an account form and we have checked trade references.
